Lisa Spies
President
Lisa Spies is a Political fundraiser with over ten years of experience raising National and PAC contributions. Currently, Lisa is the Director of Women for Romney and the Director of Jewish Outreach for Romney for President, Inc. She also works for Congressman Connie Mack in his bid for the Florida United States Senate - running his D.C. and national fundraising efforts - and she is the the D.C. Finance Director for Senator David Vitter. Lisa is also the Executive Director of the Republican Jewish Coalition’s National Women’s Committee, the national organization of Jewish Republican women. During the 2010 election cycle, she served as the D.C. Finance Director for Senator John Thune and Senator David Vitter, and the National Finance Coordinator for Congressman Mike Pence. Lisa also raised money for Senator Thune’s Heartland Values PAC, Senator Vitter’s Louisiana Reform PAC and Congressman Pence’s Win Back America PAC. Described as a “Super-Fundraiser” by Capitol File Magazine in 2006, Lisa directs multi-million dollar national fundraising efforts including high-dollar donor events, PAC events and direct mail and internet programs, as well as conferences of all sizes. She also has coordinated Senators Thune and Vitter’s political and fundraising travel on behalf of Republican candidates as well as the National Republican Senatorial Committee and the Republican National Committee. Other recent projects include in 2009 serving as the National Finance Director for Florida Governor Charlie Crist’s record-breaking fundraising effort for the Republican nomination for U.S. Senate, as well as coordinating the major-donor charitable fundraising for the Susan G. Komen for the Cure’s annual Kennedy Center Gala.
Lisa is a frequent lecturer at the Republican National Committee’s “Campaign Finance Schools,” to assist in training a new generation of Republican fundraisers. She has also spoken at the Women’s Campaign School at Yale University as well as The Women and Politics Institute ‘WeLead’ program at American University. She began her career in politics in Wisconsin, as an intern for then Governor Tommy Thompson. From 2004 to 2006, Mrs. Spies ran her own fundraising and events business and raised money for Senators Conrad Burns, Norm Coleman, Jim DeMint, and John Thune, as well as the 2006 top national targeted Republican race, Michael Steele for U.S. Senate. She raised money for target Governors races such as Dick DeVos for Governor in Michigan and Hawaii Governor Linda Lingle, as well as for “527” political and 501(c)(4) issue organizations such as Progress for America and the American Center for Voting Rights. She also led the successful $1 million dollar fundraising effort for the Republican Jewish Coalition’s 20th Anniversary Celebration with President Bush. Previously, Mrs. Spies served as Director of the Senatorial Trust, the National Republican Senatorial Committee’s premier major-donor fundraising program, where her successful tenure greatly expanded the size of the donor group. She also has served as Deputy Grassroots Director for the Republican Jewish Coalition and Deputy Executive Director for the College Republican National Committee during the successful 2000 Presidential election.
Mrs. Spies is a graduate of the University of Wisconsin in Milwaukee, having also attended the University of Kansas. She completed a United Leaders fellowship program at the Kennedy School at Harvard University focused on youth and political involvement. She was one of only 12 young leaders nationwide to be named a “Super Maverick” during the 2004 election cycle for her volunteer efforts in raising over $200,000 for the Republican National Committee and the Bush Cheney Campaign. She recently topped that effort by raising over $250,000 as a bundler for the Romney for President campaign, where she also served as the D.C. Chair of Women for Mitt. She serves on the board of the Miss D.C. Scholarship Pageant, and she and her husband sit on the Next Generation Board at the U.S. Holocaust museum. In 2006 she was appointed to the “Presidential Rank Award Distinguished Review Board” which recommended to President George W. Bush outstanding members of the Senior Executive Service for the government’s top commendation.
Jolyn LorenzettiDirector of Events Jolyn Lorenzetti graduated with honors from American University in May 2011. She holds a Bachelor's degree in Political Science and an Undergraduate Certificate in Women, Policy and Political Leadership. During her time at American, she was involved in the AU College Republicans, the AU Women and Politics Institute, and D.C. College Republican Women.
Alex ZakupowskyFinance Assistant
Alex assists in the planning and management of fundraising, event planning, and the development of campaign strategies and outreach. Prior to joining the LS Group, Alex assisted the legislative counsel on the Budget Committee in the House of Representatives under the leadership of Chairman Paul Ryan where he also interned during his undergraduate studies at the University of Michigan. During Alex’s experience at the Budget Committee, he was responsible for tracking and writing detailed reports on relevant legislation, interfacing with constituents, and supporting Republican committee members and staff. Alex graduated from the University of Michigan in 2011 where he received his Bachelors degree in political science.
